Portfolio: Current Education (Chamber of Mines)
Yolande finished her schooling in 1992 and went on to study mathematics and physics at the University of the North West in Potchefstroom, graduating with a BSc degree in 1996.
She started her working career as a training seismologist at AngloGold and moved to Gold Fields of South Africa in 1999 and Geohydroseis in 2001. She completed her BSc Hons degree at the University of Pretoria and obtained the Advanced Rock Engineering Certificate in 2006 after joining Brently Lucas and Associates.
In 2010, she took up the position of Group Seismologist with Harmony Gold, where she is currently employed. Yolande has just completed her MSc degree at the University of Pretoria. She has been a Sanire member since 2011.
Yolande says: "My portfolio relates to all aspects of the rock engineering exams that are administered through the Chamber of Mines – coordinating and administering everything involved in the smooth running of the bi-annual exams. My main objective for the next two years is to set up exam guidelines for candidates, and examinations to ensure a smooth registration and examination process."
