As we It is with great excitement that I write the last Presidents corner for 2021. This time of year is generally a time where we can reflect on the accomplishments achieved during the year. I will not waste this opportunity to reflect on some of the highlights of this institute in 2021, but regrettably, before I can share the highlights of SANIRE, I need to remind us that the South African mining industry have had a less fortunate year with 60 fatalities in total of which 32% of them are related to rockfall and rockburst. One cannot help to feel saddened by the losses of life and disappointed by the poor performance in comparison to previous years.
